Avery Mondoux each recorded a shot as Detroit Mercy dropped the 2026 season opener at Kentucky, 6-0.
After a 35-minute rain delay, Kentucky (1-0) wasted little time scoring just 1:10 into the game for a quick 1-0 lead. The Wildcats then added back-to-back penalty kick goals in the 12th and 17th minutes, followed by another tally in the 20th minute for a commanding 4-0 halftime lead.
Detroit Mercy was able to dig in and keep the Wildcats at bay to open the second half. UK then broke through with two more late goals in the 74th and 84th minutes.
Detroit Mercy will look to bounce back with the home opener against Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 1 p.m.
