NORTHVILLE, Mich. (9/12/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team had five runners under 20 minutes, and four harriers posted career bests as UDM opened the season at the Tommy Titan vs. W The Warrior Cross Country Classic on Saturday.
The 5k race took place at Cass-Benton Park, the site of home meets for over 30 years, with the last in 2023.
Detroit Mercy tallied 41 points for second place as it saw four runners in the top 10.
Senior
Alaina Burns led the way with a PR of nearly 30 seconds as she was fourth in 18:56.
Junior
Kirsten Koss also had a career run by nearly 30 ticks as she was sixth in 19:02, while junior
Sofia Figueroa had a career best by 21 seconds in taking eighth in 19:14.
Freshman
Anna Kujansuu registered a top-10 effort in her collegiate debut, finishing ninth in 19:17, and senior
Helana Napiorkowski rounded out Titans in the top 20 by placing 14th in 19:39.4.
Junior
Ana Lopez was just outside the top 20 as she was 22nd in a career-low 20:24, and senior
Abby Fifield clocked a time of 20:25 for 23rd.
A team of Titan alumni was fourth overall, led by Tia Jokic's 19:13 for seventh. Former All-HL runner
Nina Pizzo was 17th in 19:48, while Kaitlin Murray earned 29th with a run of 20:38. Evie Wright posted a time of 22:12 for 50th,
Claire Hunt was 51st in 22:35, and Hall-Of-Famer Angie Otten recorded a time of 29:38.
UDM will return to action next Friday, Sept. 18, as it travels to Notre Dame for the National Catholic Invitational.
