An Evening With The Titans Earns High Reviews

DETROIT (9/23/2026) -- The annual Evening With The Titans was another high-profile success as more than 150 supporters came together to raise more than $150,000 for the University of Detroit Mercy athletic department.

"It was another great event and just an amazing atmosphere," said Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels Jr. "This was the second year we have held this event, and it was bigger and brought in more support and more money for our student-athletes."

Held at the downtown Cambria Hotel and hosted by Detroit Mercy alumnus and Board of Trustees member Christopher Kouza '02 on Sept. 18, the event brought together a great night of entertainment, speakers, and prizes.

A silent and live auction were on hand, which included signed memorabilia, vacation packages, and various night-out experiences.

The headline speaker was former Detroit Pistons and NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas.

"It was a fun event, and I just loved the energy that was in the room," said head men's basketball coach Mark Montgomery. "I'd like to thank my childhood idol Isiah Thomas for taking time from a vacation he had planned to be with us. All of us loved listening to him. This event keeps getting bigger, and we are already planning for next year."
