2011-12: Finished second overall on the team with 60 individual victories... Finished 60-53 (53%) overall for second highest win total on the team behind Michael Purdy-Sachs... 13 of those wins were one-touch victories... Fenced with both epee and foil during the season after exclusively fencing foil during his freshman season... Recorded an 8-4 total at West Point and Vassar (Jan. 21-22)... Went 15-12 at the Notre Dame Duals (Jan. 28-29) for the second-best total on the team behind Purdy-Sach's perfect 27-0 mark... Helped men's foil to a fourth place finish with upsets over No. 6 Michigan State and No. 3 seed Indiana at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships at Notre Dame (March 3-4)... Individually placed 22nd in men's foil at the MFC... Placed 10th in men's epee at the NCAA Midwest Regionals at Cleveland State (March 10-11).
2010-11: Earned his "A" rating...Won a bronze medal for placing third at the Istvan Danosi at Wayne State beating out teammate Brad Coon 15-10... At the Cleveland State Duals (Jan. 15), he finished tied atop the men's foil team in wins with 10 on the day.... Went 5-1 at the UDM Invitational (Feb. 13)... Ivanov was named to the Midwest Conference All-League honorable mention team after placing tenth at the Conference Championships (Mar. 5-6)... Totaled the second best record on the Titans with a 47-30 (.610) record... Was one of eight Titans to represent Detroit at the NCAA Regional Qualifier (Mar. 12-13) finishing with five wins at the meet... Was recognized by the coaches as the men's Newcomer of the Year.
Prior to Detroit: Was a part of the Louisville Fencing Center... Took first place at the North American Cup Division II Tournament in 2009... Earned second place in local region in 2008... Placed first in back-to-back years at the Cory Stauble Memorial Tournament in Louisville, KY in 2009 and 2010... Was a member of the jazz band, marching band and the chess club in high school at Ballard.
Personal: Son of Margarita Ivanov... Born in Moscow... Has two siblings, Elizabeth and Alexander... Fences left-handed... Enjoys music, art and cars... Chose Detroit to see the city and aid his choice of architecture for his major.
