  • A team captain, he played in all 13 games with 12 starts and led the team with a career-high 24 goals, was third with a career-best 39 points and tied for third with five assists
  • 13th in the ASUN with 1.85 goals per game
  • Tied for the team lead with three man-up goals and had 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers
  • Led the team with 115 shots with 53 on cage
  • Had a goal in 11 of 13 games with seven multi-goal performances and also registered a point in 12 contests

  • Registered a ground ball and an assist at #4 Notre Dame and at Marquette
  • Posted a career-best four goals in the come-from-behind win versus VMI
  • Had a goal and an assist at High Point
  • Recorded a goal at Bellarmine and against Cleveland State

2021:
  • Played in seven games with six starts and was tied for third on the team with 12 points, while standing second with 10 goals
  • Posted 47 shots, second on the team, with 26 on cage for a .533 shots on goal percentage, fourth on the squad
  • Had a goal and an assist in the season opener at Marist
  • Found the back of the net twice against Siena
  • Tallied his second career hat trick with three goals in a win over St. Bonaventure and added another one at the Bonnies in the MAAC Championship quarterfinals

2020:
  • Played in all five games with one start
  • Tied for third on the team with nine points and eight goals, while adding five ground balls and a caused turnover
  • Third on the team with 26 shots and second with 14 on net for a .538 shots on goal percentage
  • Scored a goal and had an assist at Jacksonville and found the back of the net once at #12 Ohio State and against Marquette
  • Posted two goals against Bellarmine
  • Recorded his first hat trick with three goals versus Robert Morris

Prior To Detroit Mercy:
  • A three-year varsity letter winner as a prep and team captain as a senior
  • Selected a US Lacrosse All-American, All-State First Team and All-Catholic in 2019
  • All-State Second Team and All-League as a junior
  • Helped his team to a state title in 2018 and the state finals in 2019
  • In football, he was also All-League and All-Catholic and was the team's MVP as a senior

Personal:
  • Son of Lisa and Mike Birney
  • His older brothers, Mike and Sean, and older sister, Kylie, all played lacrosse at Detroit Mercy
  • Mike was the MAAC's Most Outstanding Player in 2013 helping the Titans reach the NCAA Tournament and also played in the MLL with the Ohio Machine
