Buysse Ballpark

Buysse Ballpark
Founded:
1993
Capacity: 500

Buysse Ballpark is home to the Detroit Mercy softball team. Located on the northwest side of campus, the ballpark features stadium seating for fans, as well as one of the best natural grass fields in the Horizon League.

First used during the 1993 season, the park was known as Titan Field up until 2004 when a facelift resulted in the renaming the facility, Buysse Ballpark, in honor of Titan supporter Roger Buysse. The stadium received a scoreboard, dugouts, and chairback seating behind homeplate.

Buysse continued to build his legacy helping provide for a new bullpen and hitting cage area in the summer of 2008. In 2017, the ballpark received another facelift with the addition of a new scoreboard beyond the right-centerfield wall.
The new scoreboard has the ability to display animations, images and video, all to give the Titans more of a gameday atmosphere.

For the start of the 2011 season, more updates came for the ballpark as a new press box was constructed, the field received new dirt on both the infield and warning track, and also a new wind screen featuring the Titan logo that can boldy be seen from Livernois avenue.

The bullpen and hitting cage area is located down the left field line at Buysse Ballpark, just past the home dugout, making it easily accessible for practice and in-game use.

The bullpen section features throwing lanes complete with a netted back-stop in which two pitchers can warm up. The hitting cage is divided into three individual sections which are enclosed by netting with extra room at the beginning of the area, allowing players to use multiple stations at the same time.

Following the 2011 season, more improvements came as the dugouts were renovated to add more space for both teams and also a fence around the dugout to protect student-athletes from foul balls and other objects leaving the playing field.
