Angela James joined the Detroit Mercy men's basketball staff as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach in the summer of 2019.
James' primary duties will include academic support and liaison to all University academic departments. She will also serve as the basketball office manager, coordinating all mailings, coaches schedules, recruiting travel and other general office duties.
In addition, James will serve in a primary support capacity to the Director of Basketball Operations. She will assist in coordinating team travel, on-campus housing and team meals as well as being the primary contact point for coaches ticket requests as well as other duties as assigned.
Since arriving, she has helped strengthened the Titans academic performance as the program posted its third-straight team GPA of 3.0 at the end of the 2021 spring semester with its best GPA in years at 3.259.
She holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 2004 and a master in Health Administration from Ashford University in 2016.
She is the proud mother of daughter, Tyanna, a current senior at USC and 14-year-old son Tory.
