Joel Machota who previously spent two seasons with the UDM men's basketball team, is in his first season with the Titans program as Director of Basketball Operations, handling the day-to-day operations of the basketball program, including travel and summer camps.
“Joel is an enthusiastic young man with a great work ethic,” said Coach McCallum. “He is very dedicated and is a great fit for our staff as we continue to build a championship program.”
Before UDM, Machota served as an Assistant Coach for Mid Michigan Community College since the program returned to action in 2010. With the Lakers, he was in charge of skill development, scouted opponents and monitored student-athlete academic progress.
Machota attended Central Michigan University for his undergrad, where he served as a Student Manager for the men’s basketball program from 2008-2010. With CMU, he was part of the Chippewas' Mid-American Conference West Division Championship team in 2009.
Machota graduated from CMU with a degree in physical education in 2011, and is currently pursuing his masters in Liberal Studies from the University of Detroit Mercy.
