A former member of the Titan men’s basketball program, Will Finch arrived back in the Motor City in the summer of 2018 for his second stint with the program and will serve as the men’s basketball video coordinator.
Finch was the men’s basketball Director of Basketball Operations under former head coach Ray McCallum in 2009-10 before leaving to take an assistant coaching position at the NAIA level with Saint Catharine College.
More recently, he coached preps in the state of South Carolina and helped student-athletes secure 19 Division I scholarships.
From 2012-13, he was an assistant athletic facilities coordinator at his alma mater Indiana and that came after serving as a graduate assistant for men’s basketball at Marshall from 2011-12. He was also an assistant men’s basketball coach at Saint Catharine College from 2010-11. At both stops, he handled day-to-day operations including practice, scouting, game prep, and coaching as well as monitored academic performance of the student athletes.
He began his role in college basketball as a student manager at Indiana under coach Davis as an undergraduate from 2005-07, and later took on roles in event management and athletics administration while pursuing his master degree.
He worked with Impact Basketball in Las Vegas in 2009, where he organized the renowned basketball training center's management and aided in the on-court training of NBA-caliber players, prior to joining the Titan staff in 2009. He was part of the largest turnaround in school history as Detroit Mercy went from 7-23 the previous year to 20-14 in 2009-10, ending with a run to the Horizon League semifinals.
Finch earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Management and Marketing from Indiana in 2007 and his master in Sports Administration, Management and Marketing from IU in 2008.
