Sollman begins his second year helping to coach the Titans in 2011-12. He fenced for Detroit for four years and was named UDM's Fencing Newcomer of the Year in 2006. Prior to Detroit, he had eight years of fencing experience with the Renaissance Fencing Club.
In March 2010 while fencing for the Titans at the Midwest Conference Championship, he sustained an injury to his dominant hand and after being stitched up he returned to win three more individual matches and finish 19th out of 81 competitors.
A native of Sterling Heights, he attended Stevenson High School and will be graduating this May with a bachelor's degree in Nursing and a minor in Psychology from UDM. He currently works for a home health care company in Grosse Pointe, MI.
