JD Hess

Former men's lacrosse player JD Hess will stay with the program as the Titans graduate assistant and Director of Lacrosse Operations in 2017. 

Hess played lacrosse at Detroit Mercy from 2013-17 and saw action in 40 career games as a long stick midfielder and midfielder. He tallied 36 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers, three goals and an assist in his career. 

In his final collegiate campaign in 2016, he played in all 12 games and recorded three points on two goals and an assist along with four ground balls. He picked up a career-best 17 ground balls in 2014 and had 15 the following season. 

Off the field, he was a member of the Detroit Mercy Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the MAAC Academic Honor Roll. 

A product of Seaholm High School, he earned four letters in lacrosse and a pair in football and hockey. As a prep, he posted 88 career goals, including a fantastic senior season with 50 goals and 36 assists as he guided Birmingham United to a regional championship and a state semifinals appearance. With those numbers, he would go on to earn All-American accolades by US Lacrosse, First Team All-State and First Team All-Area as well as All-Region and honorable mention All-Midwest. 

He graduated from Detroit Mercy in 2017 with a bachelor of arts in Education and is currently pursuing a master in Educational Administration.
