Spiro Pliakos joins the men's soccer staff as a student manager for the 2018-19 school year. Pliakos was a four-year member of the Titans, becoming the second player in school history to earn All-Conference nods in all four seasons of his playing career.
Pliakos was also the first Titan male student-athlete in school history to earn First Team Academic All-American honors when he was voted First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American as a senior in 2017.
The Rochester Hills, Mich. native was also two-time All-Region and the 2014 Horizon League Freshman of the Year. He was a two-time Team MVP and two-time Offensive MVP, amassing 18 goals, 17 assists for 53 points in 62 career matches (59 starts).
At the conclusion of his career, he ranked No. 12 all-time in points, 14th in points per game (0.85), tied-for-17th in goals and tied-for-12th in assists.
He was a three-time member of the Horizon League Men's Soccer All-Academic Team and received Academic Excellence laurels from the University for sporting a 3.0 GPA in each semester of eligibility at Detroit Mercy.
He was a team co-captain as a senior, when he scored seven goals and totaled 15 points in just 13 games, missing time due to an injury.
Pliakos attended Rochester High School and played one year of collegiate soccer with his brother Demetri, who enters his sophomore season for the Titans in 2018.
Pliakos is enrolled in the 5-year MBA program with a concentration on Accounting and Finance.
