Ike Kiro joines the University of Detroit Mercy tennis coaching staff in January of 2016.
Kiro comes to Detroit with plenty of experience, serving as a tennis professional with Texas Tech Tennis Camps, Camp Lindenmere, Fred Kiewietz Tennis and Proform Tennis.
Most recently, Kiro has been with the Van Der Meer Tennis Academy teaching tennis to all age groups and skill levels. Kiro has directed private and group lessons, while also providing advanced adult clinics as a part of a world-class academy.
With Texas Tech’s tennis camps, Kiro gained experience directing camps and lessons. He has also been a lead instructor as part of Fred Kiewietz Tennis, assisting with day-to-day operations and practices.
Kiro played collegiately at the New Jersey Institute of Technology atop the singles position, as well as the top doubles position. He transferred to the University of the District of Columbia and finished his career with the firebirds and was named First Team All-ECC in 2013.
Kiro graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of the District of Columbia in 2014 and is a PTR Certified Professional and owns a National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) rating of 5.5.
