Darius Cunningham III joined the women's basketball staff as a Graduate Assistant for Digital Media in July 2026.

Cunningham III came to Detroit Mercy from Michigan State, where he served as a social media intern, manager, and practice player for the women’s basketball team. He also did freelance work producing branded content edits for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards and collaborated with the digital media brand, Flighthouse, which has 28M followers.

With the Spartans, Cunningham III created and managed social media content and conducted data analytics on various social media platforms. He also assisted with the coordination of events, including donor and alumni receptions and game-day tailgates, and participated in daily team practices and travel to away contests to support logistics and team operations
 
Cunningham III earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Creative Advertising from Michigan State University in 2025.
