Dashia Chandler joined the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball staff in July 2021 as the new Director of Women's Basketball Operations.
Chandler joins the Titans after serving as the girls basketball director for Team Loaded in Richmond, Virginia as well as the girls head coach at Varina High School in Henrico, Virginia.
"I am extremely excited to welcome Dashia to our Titan Family," Detroit Mercy interim head coach LaTanya Collins said at the time of her hiring. "I have had the pleasure of seeing Coach Chandler grow throughout her career. First as a student-athlete, then as a coach; no matter what phase she was in during her life, her drive, professionalism and attention to detail always separated her from others.
"She will be a great example for the young ladies on our team. She does things with integrity and understands the team concept."
She was the head coach with Varina since 2015 and led her teams to Top-10 finishes three years in a row, while also earning the Henrico County Coach of the Year in 2016-17. Chandler helped turn the program around through training and developmental initiatives and helped organize and host skill clinics in the Henrico area.
With Team Loaded, Chandler mentored and provided leadership to the staff and players and overseeing finances, scheduling and developing community service initiatives. She was also the program's NCAA compliance coordinator.
Chandler played collegiately at Virginia Union and was a four-year starter for the Panthers as well as a four-time All-Academic First Team honoree. She helped lead the squad to a CIAA North Division title as a senior in 2011-12.
She graduated from the University in 2012. Chandler has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Union in Political Science and a Master's in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.
Chandler and her fiancé, Desmond Coble, have one daughter, Devyn.
