HS-John Kenger-WBB-Grad Asst Coach-2013-1

John Kenger

John Kenger was a new addition to the Titan program for the 2013-14 season as he served as a graduate assistant coach in his first year.

With Detroit, Kenger assisted with video breakdown of opponents for scouting and game planning as well as with day-to-day office activities. He is a 2007 graduate of Madonna with a degree in Sports Management and is currently pursuing his masters in Liberal Studies at UDM.

Kenger already has some collegiate coaching experience in his background as he was an assistant coach for three seasons (2009-12) at nearby Madonna University. With the Crusaders, he worked with the guards as well as aided with in-game strategy, scouting, recruiting and video break down.

“Coach Kenger has volunteered at our summer basketball camps, attended numerous practices, and has showed a great amount of dedication to our program,” said head coach Autumn Rademacher. “He expressed an interest in serving our team in any capacity and he is the perfect fit for this position. I am looking forward to John bringing his experiences and knowledge to the Detroit Titan family.”

During his time at Madonna, he helped the program reach three-straight Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) semifinals appearances, including the league’s championship game in 2010. He also helped a pair of Crusaders earn All-League honors as well as one student-athlete selected as a NAIA All-American.

Kenger’s other coaching stops have come at the prep level at Ladywood High School as well at Saint Genevieve grade school. He posted an overall record of 73-24 during his eight years at the helm at St. Genevieve winning a CYO Championship during the 2007-08 season and was also the head junior varsity coach at Ladywood, winning the Catholic High School League sectional championship in 2009.

He is a former director of the Lady Sun Devils AAU program and has also coached with the Blue Angels boy's AAU program, guiding the U-13 and U-14 teams to a national runner-up finish in 2010 and 2011.
