Tykyrah Williams joined the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball staff as a graduate assistant in August 2021. She enters her first season as part of the staff in 2021-22.

Williams played collegiately with Morgan State University in Maryland. She was a three-year starter and four-year letter winner with the Bears and was the seventh player in program history to record more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds during her career. She averaged 11.3 points and 6.2 rebounds during her Morgan State playing career.

She played professionally in Ireland with the Killester Basketball Club. While playing in Ireland, she also coached a 13U Killester girls basketball squad as well as at an elementary school. She also played professionally in Kosovo, winning a championship, as well as in Germany with the Krofdorf Knights.

Williams began her coaching career as a camp counselor with Nate James and Chris Carrawell Basketball Camps. She also volunteered her time with a YMCA in Baltmore, Maryland for three years.

Williams, a native of Durham, North Carolina, graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Morgan State University. She is pursuing a Master's degree in Business Administration with the University of Detroit Mercy.
