The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse program announced the addition of Emma Olson as an assistant coach in August of 2023.
"I am very excited to be joining the Detroit Mercy lacrosse program," said coach Olson. "I am thrilled to work under head coach Maddie Dugan and learn from her while helping to grow the team's culture and skills on and off the field."
Olson spent the last two years as an assistant coach at her alma mater Calvin University, helping the Knights to 16 wins and back-to-back winning campaigns in the MIAA.
Prior to her return to Calvin, she also coached at Pittsburgh True Lacrosse (2019-20), MLXA (2021-22) and Pure Advantage (2022).
Olson played five seasons at Calvin from 2017-21 and was a three-time All-MIAA standout, including first team in 2021 and second team in 2018 and 2019. She helped her team to a pair of MIAA titles and NCAA Tournament appearances as the Knights were 44-25 overall and 27-3 in conference play.
She played in 57 games with 54 starts and recorded 171 points on 138 goals and 33 assists, along with 142 draw controls, 124 ground balls and 87 caused turnovers. As a senior in 2021, she posted a career-high 70 points, 53 goals, 17 assists and 37 caused turnovers.
