Biography

2014-15: Just the fourth Titan to win the Horizon League Freshman of the Year (called Newcomer until 2014) joining Maria Pandele (2005), Annie Moore (2006) and Carolina Salas Espinosa (2010)... Also the first Titan freshman to earn HL First-Team accolades since Carolina Salas Espinosa in 2010... A late addition to the Titans joining the team in January and ended up posting 11 singles wins and five doubles victories… Started the year 2-10 in singles, but won nine of her last 12, including 6-2 in the Horizon League at No. 1… 10 of her 11 wins in dual play were at the top spot and 10 were straight-set victories... Ousted Cleveland State’s Mathilde Orange, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4, at the Horizon League Championship quarterfinals… Tabbed the HL Player of the Week on March 24 after two dominating wins cruising past Green Bay’s Stephanie Londre, 6-3, 6-1, and Chelsea Bailey of Milwaukee, 6-3, 6-0… Beat Oakland’s Cam Sabourin, 6-4, 7-6 (5)… Also handled Wright State’s Vanessa Madrigal, 6-0, 6-1, Valparaiso’s Kaitlyn Hamel, 6-0, 6-0, and CSU’s Victoria Bensimon, 7-5, 6-4, in the HL… Won her first doubles match playing with Viktoria Laskutova as the duo posted a 7-5 triumph over Toledo’s Sidnay Huck and Mackenzie Bowman. 

Prior to Detroit: Attended Riga 40th Intermediate School prior to transferring to the team in January… Had a great junior career in Latvia taking third place in singles at the Latvian National Championship Under 18 in 2011… Also part of the U-18 doubles championship as well as the third place doubles squad at the Riga Women’s National Championship… Started garnering attention ranking as high as third in the U-14 and U-16 Latvian national rankings… Helped her team to a U-16 Latvian Junior Team Championship and won a Latvian National Championship in doubles in 2008… The following season, she guided her squad to another national team championship and was part of a doubles title team at the Latvian Women’s National Championship and Latvian National Championship U-16… Also won a singles and doubles title at the Latvian Olympic Games in 2009…In 2010, she was again part of a Latvian National Championship at the U-18 level and won a Latvian Women’s Championship in doubles…  
 
Personal: Daughter of Svetlana Nionova... From the same hometown as Titan head coach Pjotrs Necajevs… Majoring in Health Information Management.
