Former All-Horizon League performer and school record holder Aisha Tyre is returned to the Titan program as a graduate assistant in 2021-22.
Tyre got into collegiate coaching last season as she was a graduate assistant with the Frostburg State track & field programs, working primarily with the hurdles and multis. Overall, the men's and women's programs finished their conference championships with three individual victories and 19 top-five finishes.
As a Titan, she was a four-year letter winner in track and field winning the heptathlon as a junior with a personal and school-record 4,659 points at the 2015 Horizon League Outdoor Championships. She was also runner-up in the event as a senior and scored in the heptathlon as a sophomore. She also scored in the indoor pentathlon three times, posting a school-record 3,430 points in 2015, and scored in the 60 and 100-meter hurdles as a junior at the league meet.
She is still third in the school record books in the 60 and 100-meter hurdles, sixth in the long jump and eighth in the triple jump.
She as a two-time HL All-Academic team member, was named team MVP during both the 2016 indoor and outdoor seasons and was named the team’s Rookie of the Year in both the 2013 indoor and outdoor seasons. As a senior, she was a nominee for Detroit Mercy's President's Award, given to a graduating senior who during his/her tenure at Detroit Mercy has shown academic and athletic excellence.
Prior to collegiate coaching, she worked in the health care field for five years with Quest Diagnostics and also still serves as a Site Coordinator for FitKids360 providing healthy lifestyle programs for kids 5-17.
Tyre graduated cum laude from Detroit Mercy with a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration in 2016 and is currently pursuing a masters in Master of Business Administration and Health Services Administration
