The University of Detroit Mercy track and field programs will be at full strength this season on the coaching side as James Crabill joined the University as an assistant coach in September of 2026.
Crabill will guide the Titans' throwing unit.
"James has great experience and success," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Guy Murray '89. "He will definitely help us continue our great throws tradition and compete on a high level."
He comes from Lawrence Tech, where he was the throws coach for the last three seasons, helping the Blue Devils achieve their best finish ever in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference last season.
Crabill has also served as head and assistant coach at Plymouth Salem High School since 2009, as well as in multiple stints as an assistant football coach.
He graduated from Eastern Michigan in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
