Denny Kapp is back again as the “Voice” of the Detroit Mercy women’s basketball team returning to the role for the 2016-17 season. All of the home games can be seen nationally on ESPN3 and ESPN+.
Kapp was the lead play-by-play announcer of the Titan women’s basketball team from 2006-10 on the Horizon League Network, while also calling some of the men’s games on local radio and HLN. He returned as the play-by-play man for Detroit Mercy women's basketball in the 2014-15 season and has also filled in during men's contests.
He most recently served as a reporter and producer for Detroit Sports 105.1 FM, the Motor City's ESPN radio affiliate. He has done play-by-play for the Michigan High School Athletic Association and works with Sirius XM Radio and Associated Press Broadcast. He attends a large majority of college and pro games in town where he provides in-game reports & postgame tape as the Detroit stringer for numerous national radio networks and visiting team’s radio networks.
He also spent 13 years as a producer, reporter and anchor at WDFN-AM 1130 from 2000-2013.
He began his broadcasting career in high school through WSDP, the student radio station of the Plymouth Canton Community Schools.
Kapp studied for all four years under Detroit Sports Broadcaster Association (DSBA) member and WSDP Station Manager Bill Keith.
He is a 2003 graduate of Madonna University and currently resides in Westland with his wife, Jill.
