Men's Soccer to Host IPFW on Oct. 22

The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team (3-9-1) begins its three-game homestand on Oct. 22 as the Titans host IPFW (2-10-2) in a non-conference match-up at Titan Field, with kick-off slated for 4 p.m.

The Titans team split this past week as UDM fell to Cleveland State at home by a score of 1-0 on Oct. 17 and then clinched a 3-1 victory at Western Michigan two days later. Three different Titans scored against the Broncos, including the game-winner by freshman Adam Philp (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph's Catholic) for his first collegiate goal. Senior Renato Susnja (Dearborn, MI/Edsel Ford) scored the first goal for UDM, while sophomore #Ken Simon# (Brighton, MI/Brighton) tacked on a security goal for Detroit in the 69th minute.

Senior #Simon Zahra# (New South Wales, Sydney, Australia/Evans) earned two assists against the Broncos, while Susnja, junior #Nick Dreshaj# (Clinton Twp., MI/Tiffin) and sophomore Jake Munchiando (Troy, MI/Troy Athens) all earned a point on the afternoon.

Susnja currently leads the Titans in points and goals with eight and three, respectively, while Dreshaj and Simon have each tallied a team second-best seven points.

IPFW has lost five of its past six contests, including a 3-1 loss at Valparaiso on Oct. 19. The last win for the Mastodons came on Sept. 23 as IPFW shutout Urbana, 4-0, in Fort Wayne, IN. Freshman Max Touloute leads the Mastodons with 12 points and five goals.

The Titans are 5-1-1 all-time against the Mastodons, with the lone tie happening in Indiana on Sept. 12, 2007 (2-2).

Proceeding Wednesday's match, the Titans will next host intrastate rival, Oakland, on Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.
