The Detroit Titans men's soccer team (4-10-1, 1-4-1 HL) finishes out its three-game homestand on Oct. 31 with a Horizon League match-up against #21 Butler (12-2-3, 4-0-2) at Titan Field, with kick-off slated for 2 p.m.
UDM senior Renato Susnja (Dearborn, MI/Edsel Ford) continues to lead the Titans with eight points and shares a team-best three goals with freshman Adam Philp (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph's Catholic). Junior Nick Dreshaj (Clinton Twp., MI/Chippewa Valley) and sophomore Ken Simon (Brighton, MI/Brighton) are tied with seven points a piece with both having dished out a team-high three assists, along with two goals a piece.
The Titans took a break from conference action and won two out of three, but most recently UDM hosted Oakland and came up short by a score of 3-0 on Oct. 28. The last Horizon League game for UDM was at home on Oct. 17 when Cleveland State edged the Titans, 1-0.
Butler heads into Friday's contest having won five of its past six games, which includes a 2-1 victory at Bradley on Oct. 28. The Bulldogs ended in a scoreless tie in Indianapolis with Loyola (Oct. 24), while the Titans claimed a 2-1 victory over the Ramblers in Chicago, IL, on Sept. 26. Frank Patano leads BU in points and goals with 21 and nine, respectively, while Eduardo Garcia has dished out a team-best nine assists.
Detroit is 7-17-1 all-time against the Bulldogs, which includes a 5-1 loss for the Titans on Oct. 21, 2007 at the Butler Bowl. The last time Detroit defeated BU was by a score of 2-1 on Oct. 10, 1006 in Indianapolis and Oct. 28 of the previous year marks the last time UDM defeated BU as the Titans shutout the Bulldogs, 3-0.
Since 1987, UDM is 3-2 all-time when playing on Halloween and 1-1 when those contests have happened in Detroit.
Proceeding Detroit's match-up against Butler, the Titans will face Valparaiso in Indiana on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. for UDM's final conference regular season game of the 2008 campaign.
