The Detroit Titans women's basketball team played its second-straight road game and fell to Michigan State by a score of 85-48 Wednesday evening at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. UDM now owns an 0-2 overall record, while MSU improves to 3-0 on the season.
Freshman Lauren Allen (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester) hit a jumper at 16:45 to pull UDM within two (6-4), but that was the closest the Titans would get to the Spartans the remainder of the contest. MSU went into the break with a 37-13 advantage and the Spartans captured its largest lead of the night with just over three minutes in the game when the scoreboard read, 77-40.
UDM senior guard Zemora Davis (Detroit, MI/Community) led the Titans in scoring for the second time as she netted 13, which included a 9-of-12 showing at the line, and she also tied for a game-high eight rebounds. Redshirt freshman Talicia Washington (Auburn Hills, MI/Avondale) came off the bench to add six points for Detroit and she also grabbed a team second-best seven caroms.
MSU redshirt Aisha Jefferson ended with a game-high 18 points and tied Davis with eight rebounds. Spartan junior Allyssa DeHaan also scored in double figures with a game second-best 14 points.
The Titans will return to action when they host Georgia on Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m. for Detroit's first home game of the season.
