In its final tune-up before the Christmas break, the UDM men's track and field team had a small squad compete at the Macomb Open, held on Friday evening.
Only four Detroit sprinters participated in the event as the Titans came away with five event winners and three personal records on the day.
Sophomore Earnest Cleary (Detroit, MI/Ferndale) and junior Deonte Osayande (Detroit, MI / Winans Academy) each recorded a pair of victories in their respective 60-meter section. Cleary won his first race in 7:02 and his second in 7:05, while Osayande claimed first with runs of 7:09 and a career best 7:04, a time that now stands third in school history.
Sophomore Lesley Hanna (Exuma, Bahamas / Coakley) was first in the 200m with a personal best 22.55. Freshman Aviram Campbell (Yale, MI / Yale) earned second in the finals of the 60mHH clocked at 8.68 after running a season nest 8.59 in the preliminaries, a time that ranks eighth in Titan history.
After two quick meets to open the season, Detroit will now take some time off for winter break before the new year starts with a trip to Eastern Michigan for the EMU Invitational on Jan. 10.
