The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team dropped a 75-39 decision to Iowa State Sunday afternoon at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, IA.
UDM senior
Sandi Brown (Toledo, OH/Start) led the Titans (2-6) with 10 points after shooting 4-of-7 from the field and she also tied for a game second-best seven rebounds, while teammate sophomore
Kealy McNally (Rocky River, OH/Rocky River) set a new career-high of eight caroms.
ISU senior Heather Ezell made eight from long range, all in the first half, to end with a game-high 24 points. As a team, the Cyclones hit 18 treys to tie a school record for 3-pointers made in a single game.
Iowa State (7-2) led the entire game and after six and a half minutes into the contest, Detroit would only get as close as 17 to the Cyclones. ISU had its largest lead of the game at the 3:30 mark of the second half after a 3-pointer was made to put the score at 75-34.
Detroit outrebounded the Cyclones, 44-42, and the Titans shot 25 percent from the field (14-of-56). ISU had a 28-of-73 showing on the afternoon (38 percent), while dishing out 25 assists to UDM's nine.
The Titans will return to action on Dec. 17 when they host Morehead State at 5 p.m., which precedes the men's game against Aquinas College. The last time the women's team played in Calihan Hall was on Nov. 25.
