Box Score (in pdf)

The Detroit Titans women's basketball team dropped a 75-57 decision to Milwaukee in a Horizon League match-up at the Klotsche Center in Wisconsin Saturday afternoon. UDM now owns a 5-12 overall record (1-5 HL), while the Panthers improve to 7-9 on the season (2-3).

Senior Sandi Brown (Toledo, OH/Start) scored 13 of Detroit's 23 first half points and ended the afternoon with her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 caroms. UDM's only lead in the opening stanza was a 2-0 advantage after a made lay-up from Brown three seconds into the game. Milwaukee's first six baskets of the contest were all 3-pointers and the Panthers stretched their lead to 19 at the 2:40 mark after junior Jodie McClain drained one of Milwaukee's nine treys of the first half. Brown went on a 7-0 scoring run of her own in the closing minutes, but the Panthers took a 37-23 advantage with them into the break.

Milwaukee was up by 20 with just under 10 minutes remaining (59-39), but Detroit answered with a 7-0 scoring run, with redshirt freshman Talicia Washington (Auburn Hills, MI/Avondale) contributing five of those points. The closest Detroit would get to the Panthers the rest of the game was 12 points, with the last happening after freshman Jalesa Jones hit a midrange jumper at 2:39 to put the score at 65-53.

Junior Chanica Hall (Minneapolis, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) dished out a team-high seven assists to match her personal-best, while Washington scored in double figures for the third time this season with 11 points.

McClain netted a game-high 20 points, while UWM sophomore Lindsay Laur came off the bench to collect a double-double with 10 points and a game-best 11 rebounds.

Detroit shot 38 percent on the night (24-of-63), while Milwaukee had a 27-of-61 showing from the field (44 percent). The Panthers set a new school record with 15 treys (15-of-32) and they also had a 43-34 advantage on the boards.

The Titans return to action when they host Cleveland State on Jan. 22 at 5 p.m.
