The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team (5-13, 1-6 HL) dropped a 70-55 decision to Cleveland State (10-8, 4-2) in a Horizon League match-up Thursday evening at Calihan Hall.

With just under a minute remaining, CSU junior Kailey Klein drained a 3-pointer to give the Vikings a 35-22 advantage for its largest lead of the half and the Vikings went into the break ahead of UDM, 35-23.
The Titans scored nine unanswered points to open up the second stanza to pull within three (35-32) after redshirt freshman
Talicia Washington (Auburn Hills, MI/Avondale) scored a 2-pointer off a pass from Mulroy. That was the closest Detroit would get to the Vikings the remainder of the game and CSU had its largest lead of the contest at 4:07 after Klein converted a 3-point play (65-49).
Brown led the Titans in scoring for the sixth straight game as she poured in 17 points and also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Detroit freshman
Jaleesa Trussell (Racine, WI/Case) came off the bench to score a team second-best nine points, while Washington grabbed a team second-best six rebounds.
Five Vikings scored in double figures with Klein leading the way with a game-high 21 points, while teammate junior Stephanie Crosley collected a game-best 12 caroms.
The Titans shot 19-of-50 from the field (38 percent), while the Vikings had a 45 percent showing on the evening (25-of-56). CSU had a 39-26 advantage on the boards and UDM tallied 12 steals to the Vikings' eight.
The Titans will next return to the hardwood when they host Youngstown State on Homecoming (Jan. 24) in the second game of a Detroit doubleheader. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
