The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team looks to extend its win streak as the Titans will face Cleveland State in a Horizon League match-up in Ohio on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Detroit (3-8-1, 1-3-0 HL) has won its past two outings as the Titans defeated visiting Buffalo, 3-1, on Oct. 6 and then went on to capture a 3-2 overtime victory against Wright State at Titan Field four days later. Sophomores
Sam Seppo (Port Huron, MI/Port Huron) and
Otieno Victor (Kisumu Nyanza, Kenya / Kakamega) lead the Titans with three goals each, while senior
Nick Dreshaj (Clinton Twp., MI/Chippewa Valley) is tied with Seppo and Victor in points as he has tallied two goals and two assists for Detroit.
The Vikings enter Sunday's match-up with a 4-6-3 overall mark (1-1-2 HL) and a 3-0-1 record when playing on their home field. Most recently, CSU fell by a score of 2-1 at IPFW this past Wednesday and the Vikings' last win came in an overtime contest at home against SIU Edwardsville by a score of 1-0 on Oct. 11. Senior Josh Williams has scored a team-high five goals, while senior Slavisa Ubiparipovic has tallied a team-best nine points for CSU thus far this season.
Detroit owns a 13-5-1 advantage in the overall series with CSU. Last year, the Vikings edged the Titans, 1-0, in Detroit on Oct. 17, but UDM captured a 4-0 victory the previous season in Cleveland on Oct. 26.
Following Sunday's game, the Titans will take a break from conference play and will make the short trip to Rochester to face Oakland on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
