SERIES RECORD
Detroit has a slight 2-1 advantage in the overall series with Canisius. These two teams met last year for the first time since the 1993-94 campaign and the Griffs captured an 80-59 victory on Dec. 28 in Buffalo. The meeting in 1993 ended with Detroit winning by a score of 69-61 on Dec. 4 and the lone meeting between these two teams at Calihan Hall resulted in a 77-55 win for the Titans on Jan. 7, 1993.
SCOUTING THE GRIFFS
Canisius owns a 1-2 overall record heading into Tuesday's match-up, with its most recent outing a 74-52 win at fellow Horizon League member school, Youngstown State (Nov. 22). The Griffs were edged at Mount St. Mary's in its season opener, 55-51, on Nov. 14 and Canisius then fell to St. Bonaventure three days later by a score of 65-47. Senior Ellie Radke has averaged a team-best 17.3 points per game and 6.0 rpg through three games, while senior Brittane Russell has dished out a team-high 12 assists.
JESUIT BASKETBALL SPOTLIGHT
Tuesday's game between the University of Detroit Mercy and Canisius is part of the Jesuit Basketball Sportlight. The JBS is a nationwide effort to capitalize on basketball games between Jesuit schools and, through those games, bring greater positive awareness and exposure to Jesuit education and its shared mission.

Brigid Mulroy sits first among conference peers in field goal percentage (.643), 3-point field goal percentage (.769), as well as 3-point field goals made (3.3/gm) and is second in scoring (18.0 ppg). Sophomore
Yar Shayok currently ranks first in the Horizon League in rebounds (11.3 rpg), defensive rebounds (8.7/gm) and is seventh in scoring (15.0 ppg). In addition, sophomore
Jalesa Jones sits fourth in assists (4.7 apg) and sophomore

Yar Shayok continued to dominate on the boards at Cincinnati as she ended with a game-high 10 rebounds, nine of which came on the defensive end.

The Titans were almost perfect from the line at Cincinnati as Detroit made 10 of its 11 attempts.

Yar Shayok collected her second double-double of the season as she scored a team second-best 12 points and pulled down 10 caroms at UC.

In Detroit's game at Cincinnati this past Saturday, both teams shot an identical 21-of-59 from the field.
LONE SENIOR HONORED
Senior guard
Brigid Mulroy came out of the gate rearing to go in Detroit's opening week as she averaged 20.5 points in the two games. For her efforts, Mulroy was named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Nov. 16 and also earned the Horizon League Network's “The People's Choice” honor (Nov. 19).
MORE MULROY
Mulroy opened the 2009-10 campaign with a team third-best 14-point effort in Detroit's 74-65 win at Oakland on Nov. 13 and, two days later, in UDM's home opener, she shot 8-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-5 from long range, and made all seven attempts at the line to end with a career-high and game-best 27 points versus #10 Michigan State. The eight made field goals matches her career-high and the seven free throws is a new personal best for Detroit's lone senior.
CONFERENCE WEEKLY HONORS
Detroit won the final Horizon League Player of the Week honor last season (
Sandi Brown) and then Mulroy won it the first week of this season.

Over 1,600 fans came to watch the Titans face nationally-ranked Michigan State on Nov. 15.
DOUBLE OR NOTHING
Sophomore
Yar Shayok, whose 2008-09 season was cut short due to an injury, made a huge impact for the Titans against Oakland on Nov. 13 as she collected a double-double with game-highs in both points and rebounds with 26 and 14, respectively. Shayok shot 11-of-14 from the field, 4-of-5 from the line and 10 of her caroms came on the defensive end.
TALE OF TWO HALVES
The Titans shot 36 percent in the first half against Oakland (Nov. 13) and came back from the break to shoot 61 percent in the second stanza, compared to a 29 percent effort from the Golden Grizzlies.
LAST TIME OUT
Detroit was able to pull within one after being down by as much as 17 in the second half, but the Titans ended up falling to the University of Cincinnati in women's basketball action by a score of 65-58 at the Fifth Third Arena on Nov. 21.
With the scoreboard reading 46-29 in favor of the Bearcats at 14:23, Detroit made up 16 points in less than a nine-minute span. During that time, the Titans netted five 3-pointers, including three from senior
Brigid Mulroy and one from freshman
Demeisha Fambro, and
Cherridy Thornton's trey capped off the run to pull Detroit within one (51-50). However, that was the closest the Titans would get to UC the remainder of the game.

Yar Shayok collected another double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds and a team second-best 12 points. Mulroy led the way for the Titans with 13 points, while sophomore
Jalesa Jones also netted double figures with 11.
About five minutes into the first stanza, UDM sophomore
Lauren Allen, who dished out a team-high five assists, knotted the game at eight after netting a fastbreak lay-up off an assist from Fambro. Then at 11:32, the Titans generated their largest lead of the game of five, after Mulroy hit a midrange jumper to put the score at 15-10.
Shayok made a lay-up to shrink UC's lead to just one with about five minutes remaining in the first 20 minutes, but the Bearcats responded with a 10-2 run to close out the half with a 33-24 advantage.
Both teams shot an identical 21-of-59 from the field (36 percent), but Cincinnati made nine attempts from long range compared to Detroit's six. The Titans only missed one at the charity stripe (10-of-11), while the Bearcats had a 14-of-18 showing on free throws.
ENJOYS HELPING OTHERS
Sophomore
Jalesa Jones has a good heart and it showed as she dished out a game-high seven assists in Detroit's season-opening win at Oakland on Friday.
BIG TEN TEAMS TO CALIHAN
Michigan State and Michigan will both visit Calihan Hall this year, which is the first time since the 2001-02 season in which Detroit has hosted both Big Ten teams. The Titans opened up their home season against MSU (Nov. 15) and will host the Wolverines on Dec. 19.
PEACHY KEEN
Detroit and Georgia will have a rematch this year on Dec. 22 in Athens. Last season, the Titans captured a historic 70-66 victory over then 23rd-ranked Georgia at Calihan Hall on Nov. 22.
YOU LOOK FAMILIAR
When the Titans square-off with Michigan in December, it will pit a former mentor against a mentee as Detroit head coach Autumn Rademacher coached under Michigan head coach Kevin Borseth for three seasons (2004-07) while he was at the helm of Green Bay's women's team.
HORIZON LEAGUE NETWORK
All of Detroit's home games and every road conference contest for the Titans will be televised on the Horizon League Network this year.
DETROIT INKS TWO
University of Detroit Mercy head women's basketball coach Autumn Rademacher has announced that two student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Titan squad, beginning with the 2010-11 season. The signees are: Megan Hatter (F, 6-0, Howell, MI/Howell) and Senee Shearer (G, 5-7, Detroit, MI/Pershing). Hatter is the sister of current Titan,
Heather Hatter.
