Sophomore Lesley Hanna (Exuma,Bahamas /Coakley) won his seventh individual event of the season as the UDM men's track and field team made the short trip to Ann Arbor to compete in the Silverston Invitational on Saturday.

The meet was the Titans last before the Horizon League Championships start next weekend.

Hanna was the lone event winner on the day taking first in the 200m in 22.19, the fastest Titan time on a 200m track since Eric McKeon's 22.24 at Eastern Michigan in 1994. He also finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.92m/6'3.5".

“Lesley has had a fantastic year and has won some good races,” said head coach Guy Murray. “He is ready for next week's challenge at the conference meet.”

The Titans' mid-distance team had a nice showing on the day, especially in the 800m, where four UDM runners finished in the top 10. Leading the way was sophomore Matt Mahler's (Thorold, ON/Denis Morris Catholic) third-place performance in a career-best 1:55.88, a time that now stands 10th in school history.

“Matt is coming along at the right time and he led a good effort for us in the 800m,” added Murray.

Junior Kevin Wozniak (Dearborn, MI/Edsel Ford) was fifth in the race with a season best run of 2:00.14, while sophomore Brian Greenhoe (Sand Lake, MI/Grant) was seventh in a personal indoor best 2:00.43. Rounding out the Titans in the 800m was freshman Greg Saldutti's (Waterford, MI/Our Lady of the Lakes) 10th-place finish in 2:02.18, also a new career mark.

Sophomore Earnest Cleary (Detroit, MI/Ferndale ) also had a good showing in the 200m placing third in 22.70, while freshman Joe LaRocca (Eastpointe, MI/De LaSalle Collegiate) was eighth in the 400m with a time of 51.66. In the 600m, senior Eric Christy (St. Clair, MI/St. Clair) took sixth in a new PR run of 1:22.51, now seventh in UDM annals.

Detroit's mile squad had two runners set new career highs as well as placing in the top 10 with sophomores Kevin Smalley (Gladwin, MI/Gladwin) and Alex Harris (Huntington Woods, MI /Shrine), who finished seventh and ninth respectively, in 4:27.17 and 4:29.64.

Freshman Aviram Campbell (Yale, MI/Yale) was 12th in the 60mH in 8.76, while senior Adam Mayhew (Richland, MI/Gull Lake) took 10th in the shot put (13.65m/44'9.5") and 12th in the weight (15.10m/49'6.5")

UDM's 4x400-meter relay squad of sophomore Deonte Osayande (Detroit, MI/Wingate), Joe LaRocca, Saldutti and Mahler earned fourth in 3:31.42.

“This was a great tune up for us for the HL championships,” said Murray. “We tested some things out and found we do have some good options for what is going to be one of the toughest HL meets in a long time. One thing I can say is, we are ready to go.”

The Titans will now get ready for the Horizon League Championships next week at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. The two day event starts on Saturday, Feb. 28 and ends on Sunday, Mar. 1
