In their last regular season game at Calihan Hall, the three Detroit seniors made their mark as they combined for 32 points to help lead the Titans to a 57-49 victory over visiting Loyola in a Horizon League match-up Saturday afternoon. UDM wraps up the regular season with an 11-18 overall record (7-11 HL), while the Ramblers finish 8-20 (3-15).

The three seniors honored prior to tip-off for all of their hard work and dedication to the UDM women's basketball program were Sandi Brown (Toledo, OH/Start), Zemora Davis (Detroit, MI/Community) and Dominica Whittaker (Mississauga, ON/Our Lady of Mt. Carmel).

After Detroit was down by 12 (43-31) at the 12:20 mark, the Titans scored eight unanswered points and Brown, who ended with a team-high 14 points, went on to knot the score at 47 after hitting one from beyond the arc with four minutes left in the contest. Redshirt freshman Talicia Washington (Auburn Hills, MI/Avondale) pushed UDM up by one with a made free throw about a minute later and the Titans did not look back as they never relinquished their lead the rest of the way.

After making both of her attempts at the line, Brown made a key steal with 1:23 left in the game, then freshman Lauren Allen (Rochester, MI) dished out a pass to Washington, who attempted a layup. The ball danced around the rim and ended up falling through to put the Titans up by five (54-49) and Loyola had two turnovers and only one more shot attempt in the closing minute, which helped lead to Detroit's win.

Detroit scored the first six points of the contest, which included a layup from Whittaker, who shot 4-of-6 from the field to finish with a career-high eight points. Loyola did not score until almost four minutes into the game, which was a layup by junior Elyse VanBogaert, who netted a game-high 16 points.

Twice in the first half the Titans led by as much as seven, with the last at 12:36 after freshman Jalesa Jones (Detroit, MI/Pershing) drained a 3-pointer off an assist from Davis to put the score at 16-9. Loyola responded with a 13-0 scoring run and the Titans were able to pull within two after Allen hit a midrange jumper, but the Ramblers led by a score of 29-24 at the break.

Brown grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while Davis added 10 points for the Titans.

The Titans shot 40 percent on the afternoon (21-of-52), while the Ramblers had a 23-of-64 showing from the field (36 percent). Loyola outrebounded the Titans, 42-33, while the Titans had 13 assists to the Ramblers' 10.

Next up for Detroit is the Speedway Horizon League Championship where the Titans have earned the #8 seed and will host #9 Loyola on Monday at Calihan Hall. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
