Sophomore
Earnest Cleary (Detroit, MI/Ferndale) broke the school's 100m record and a number of Titan sprinters gained personal records as the red, white and blue finished up the final day of the Bison Outdoor Classic in cool and windy conditions.
Cleary ran a 10.65 in the event finishing third in the process. Joining him in the top five was freshman
Vushaun Landrum (Windsor, ON/Sandwich Secondary) who hit a career mark with a time of 10.85 for fifth place, good for second best run in Titan history, while junior
Sam Jones (Detroit, MI/U-D Jesuit) was 22nd in the race in 11.25.
The Titans also had a great showing in the 200m as Cleary took sixth in 22.13, while Landrum followed in ninth with a run of 22.26 for ninth on the all-time Titan top 10 list. Sophomore
Lesley Hanna's (Exuma,Bahamas/Coakley) was 16th in the event in 22.45 and Jones wrapped up the Titan showing in 26th place crossing the line at 22.20.
The sprinters also had a hand in the 4x100m that finished third as the team of Cleary, Hanna, Landrum and Jones combined for a time of 42.71.
The 4x400m relay squad nearly came away with a victory finishing in second place as the quartet of Hanna, Jones, junior
Alex Gould (Comstock Park, MI/Comstock Park) and senior
John LaRocca (Eastpointe, MI/De LaSalle Collegiate) ran a 3:22.79.
LaRocca picked up a top 20 finish with a 16th-place effort in the 400m in 50.51, while Gould was 35th in the 800m in 1:57.64.
Detroit will now get ready for its second home event of the season as the Titans host in-state rival Oakland in the Fourth Annual UDM-OU Dual on Thursday. The event kicks off at 3:00 p.m. at Titan Field.
