Sophomore
Lesley Hanna (Exuma, Bahamas/Coakley) won the 400 meters for the second consecutive week as the Titans returned home from the Windsor Open on Saturday.
On a fast track with wind playing a major factor all day, Hanna won the race in 48.24. Junior
Sam Jones (Detroit, MI/U-D Jesuit) also competed in the 400m, earning fifth with a personal best time of 51.67.
In the 100m, rookie
Vushaun Landrum (Windsor, ON/Sandwich Secondary) took fifth with a career-best run of 10.70. In the preliminaries, Landrum ran a 10.85, while sophomore
Earnest Cleary (Detroit, MI/Ferndale) posted a 10.95 and junior
Deonte Osayande (Detroit, MI/Wingate) finished in 10.99, a new personal record as well as just the third Titan to ever run a sub-11.
The same trio also competed in the 200m, as Landrum finished third in 22.17 while Cleary (22.25) and Odayande (22.51) took sixth and seventh, respectively.
A pair of Titans posted top four finishes in the 800m with junior
Alex Gould (Comstock Park, MI/Comstock Park) leading the way with a time of 1:57.15 for third place, while junior
Kevin Wozniak (Dearborn, MI/Edsel Ford) was right behind him for fourth in 1:57.47.
As a team, the Titans' 2009 outdoor season came to an end, but Detroit will still have a runner in the Regional Championships as Cleary will represent the red, white and blue in the 100m after taking first in the Horizon League Championships. The regional meet will be held on May 29-30 at the University of Louisville.
