Day Two Results
The UDM men's track and field team persevered through some rainy and windy conditions on Saturday to pick up a victory and a personal record on the final day of the Len Paddock Invitational, held at Ferry Field on the campus of the University of Michigan.
Sophomore
Lesley Hanna (Exuma, Bahamas/Coakley) was the lone Titan victor winning the 400-meters in 47.85, just missing the regional qualifying time of 47.40. Hanna has now broken 48 in the race more times in one season then any other runner in UDM history.
“Nice to win, but we didn't get the weather to cooperate and aid his effort to get the regional qualifying time,” said head coach
Guy Murray. “Chasing a time is a tough challenge as the stopwatch doesn't have a bad day and doesn't care about the weather.”
Junior
Sam Jones (Detroit, MI/U-D Jesuit) also took part in the 400m taking 21st in a new career best 52.29.
In the 200m, freshman
Vushaun Landrum (Windsor, ON/Sandwich Secondary) placed third in 22.04, while junior
Deonte Osayande (Detroit, MI/Wingate) was ninth with a run of 22.28. Sophomore
Earnest Cleary (Detroit, MI/Ferndale) was the other Titan competing in a sprint event placing 11th in the 100m with an 11:04.
Cleary, Hanna, Landrum and Osayande also teamed together to give the Titans a third-place effort in the 4x100m with a time of 42.72.
Junior
Alex Gould (Comstock Park, MI/Comstock Park) followed his PR in the 1500m on Friday night by finishing 22nd in the 800m in 1:57.94. Competing unattached in the same race, freshman
Bob Radlich (Cheektowaga, NY/Cleveland Hills) ran a 1:59.49 for 26th place.
Detroit will now have one last chance for some qualifying times as the Titans head across the border to run in the Windsor Open next Saturday.
