Sophomore Lauren Allen (Rochester, MI/Rochester) hit a clutch 3-pointer with 30 seconds remaining to help lift Detroit (4-9, 2-0 HL) to a 59-57 victory over Milwaukee (6-8, 1-2) in Horizon League women's basketball action at the Klotsche Center Thursday night. This marks Detroit's third consecutive win and the Titans first victory on the Panthers' home court since March 3, 2005.

A turning point in the game was when senior Brigid Mulroy (West Bloomfield, MI/Marian) sank one from long range to tie the game at 53 with just under four minutes remaining and sophomore Jalesa Jones (Detroit, MI/Pershing), who ended with a team-high 14 points, tied it again just over a minute later. Neither team scored a field goal for the next two minutes and then UDM sophomore Yar Shayok (Ottawa, ON/Hillcrest) dished out a pass to Allen who hit the trey to the left of the basket.

With 16 seconds left, Mulroy was sent to the line for a one-and-one attempt and she made the first, but missed the second. UWM junior Ashley Imperiale scored a lay-up, but Detroit was able to hold on to its lead and capture its second conference win of the season.

Junior Tayler Langham (Plymouth, MI/Salem) collected double figure rebounds for the first time in a Titan uniform as she pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, while Shayok collected a personal-best and game-high six steals. Allen and Shayok also each added 12 points for the Titans.

Freshman Kassandra Hooten (Moorhead, MN/Moorhead) pushed Detroit ahead of the Panthers by one, twice, in the first half, with the last happening at the 10:18 mark as she tipped in the ball after grabbing an offensive rebound to put the score at 13-12. Less than three minutes later, Shayok knotted the game at 17, for the seventh tie of the stanza, after making a lay-up with help from Allen.

After Milwaukee took a five point lead, Jones was able to pull Detroit within one after netting a fastbreak lay-up at 5:11 and Shayok made both of her attempts at the line in the closing seconds to only allow the Panthers to take a 27-23 advantage with them at the break.

Milwaukee junior Lindsay Laur led all scorers with 18 points and also grabbed a team-best 18 rebounds.

Detroit edged out UWM in rebounds, 42-40, and the Titans also had a nine to six advantage in steals.

The Titans will return to action when they face #18 Green Bay at the Kress Center on Saturday at 3 p.m.
