Live Stats vs IPFW

DETROIT - The men's soccer team will host a pair of games at Titan Field this weekend. Detroit will face Horizon League rival Cleveland State at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, and end the weekend with a non-conference matchup against IPFW on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

Friday afternoon's matchup against Cleveland State will have a huge impact on the Horizon League standings. Heading into Friday #9 Butler (11-0-0, 4-0 HL) holds the top spot with Loyola (3-6-2, 3-0-1 HL) in second. The Vikings (6-7-0) and Titans (5-6-1) are tied for third as each team has a conference record of 3-2-0.

Ya Ya Toure (Ypsilanti, Mich./Willow Run) leads the UDM offensive attack with 12 points this season. The junior has a team-high five goals, to go with two assists. Sam Seppo (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron), Otieno Victor (Kisumu Nyanza, Kenya), and Adam Bedell (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) each have six points for the Titans. Seppo is second on the team with three goals, while Bedell has a team-high four assists.

Kevin Pinkos (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) put together two good games last week in wins over Western Michigan (2-1), and Wright State (1-0). Pinkos scored his first goal of the season to tie the game at Western Michigan, and he followed that performance up with the game-winner at Wright State. The sophomore also has an assist, giving him five points on the year.

John Wargo leads Cleveland State with seven points this season. He has a team-high three goals to go with an assist. Manual Conde and Aslinn Rodas have also impacted the team with six points each. The Vikings played a tough non-conference schedule. They began the season 0-3 before picking up their first win of the year against Niagara 2-1. Another three-game losing streak followed, but CSU was able to grab their second win right before league play with a victory over IPFW 1-0. The Vikings split their games in Chicago with a win over UIC (3-2), and a loss to Loyola (3-0). It was more of the same for Cleveland State the following weekend as they defeated Green Bay (3-1), but were knocked off my Milwaukee in double overtime 1-0. Their third league win of the season came against Valparaiso on Oct. 9. The Vikings won the home game by the final score of 1-0.

IPFW (2-10) also had a slow start to the season. The Mastodons played some quality opponents, and therefore started the year going 0-5. They have faced multiple Horizon League teams including Butler, Wright State, Milwaukee, and Cleveland State. IPFW also matched up against Western Michigan and Bowling Green, two teams that appear on Detroit's schedule. The Mastodons will face IUPUI on Friday, before making the trip to Detroit. The team is currently on a six game skid, as their last win of the year came on Sept. 14 against Milwaukee (1-0).

Max Touloute is the star of the team. Touloute has started in 11 of their 12 games and has recorded 13 points on the year. He leads the team with six goals, and he also has an assist. Andy Masteller is second on the team with three goals.

Detroit will have next week off, as they pick up action on Oct. 26 with a road game against Buffalo.
