Game Notes vs. Bowling Green

DETROIT -- The Detroit women's basketball team will look to celebrate Thanksgiving with a win as the Titans continue their seven game road swing on Wednesday when UDM visits Bowling Green. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m., at Anderson Arena.

Live stats of the event will be provided for free, while a live webstream is available for purchase.

The Titans are looking to rebound off their first loss of the season after falling at No. 25/22 Michigan State on Sunday. In that game, sophomore Demeisha Fambro netted a team-high 14 points, while sophomore Yar Shayok recorded her second straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Bowling Green is 3-1 after taking care of Oakland last Saturday, 80-46. The Falcons have won three in a row with their only loss a season-opening 63-62 setback at Evansville.

THE DETROIT-BGSU SERIES
Bowling Green has a slim 11-10 lead in the overall series as the Falcons have won five in a row over the Titans.

Detroit is 4-6 all-time at Anderson Arena, a venue that is in its last year as BGSU will move into the Stroh Center next season.

The last Titan win in the series was on Nov. 20, 2001, when the red, white and blue claimed a 67-62 decision, while UDM's last victory on the road was a year earlier, Dec. 2, 2000, when the Titans cruised to a 94-75 triumph.

ABOUT BOWLING GREEN
Bowling Green enters the match-up at 3-1 after winning its last three games, including an 80-46 victory against Oakland last Saturday

BGSU has won six straight Mid-American conference regular season titles as well as four MAC tournament championships in the last six years.

The Falcons are led by two-time MAC Player of the Year Lauren Prochaska, who leads the team in scoring (18.3) and rebounding (7.8). Tracy Pontius is tallying 14.8 ppg., while Maggie Hennegan is second on the squad in rebounding (6.8) and third in scoring (11.5).

Curt Miller is in his 10th season at Bowling Green, where he has guided the program to a 209-81 mark during his tenure.

TITANS VS. THE MAC
The Titans are 69-59 all-time against current teams from the Mid-American Conference.
Since head coach Autumn Rademacher took over the reins as the Titan leader, Detroit is 3-3 against the league with wins over Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan and Ball State.

OFF TO A FAST START
Detroit's 3-1 start is its best since going 3-1 to start the 1991-92 season.

A win over Bowling Green would give Detroit its best five-game start since the 1986-87 campaign when the Titans were also 4-1.

THIS IS MY TERRITORY
Sophomore Yar Shayok has recorded two straight double-doubles and now have 12 for her career. She dominated in the paint against Western Michigan with a season-high 18 points and 13 rebounds. She then came back with 11 points and 10 rebounds at No. 25/22 Michigan State.

For the year, Shayok is averaging 9.5 rebounds per game, good for second in the Horizon League.

A DEFENSIVE EFFORT
Detroit has forced at least 16 turnovers in every game on the year, including two contests with 20+ turnovers.

UDM forced a season-high 22 turnovers against Ball State, turning those opportunities into 30 points. Detroit also forced No. 25/22 Michigan State into 21 turnovers.

On the year, the Titans have caused 77 opponent turnovers, an average of 19.2 per game.

FAMBRO GETTING OFFENSIVE
Sophomore Demeisha Fambro is turning into one of the best offensive players not only on the Titans, but in the Horizon League. Fambro has notched double digits in scoring in all four games on the year, including a career-best 25 against Ball State and a team-best 14 points at No. 25/22 Michigan State.

She currently leads the Titans in scoring at 15.8 ppg., tied for 10th in the league, while her 46% from beyond the arc (7-for-15) has her fifth in the conference.

As a freshman, Fambro averaged 8.0 points per game hitting just 31% from three-point territory.

JONES CRASHING THE GLASS
She might be one of the shortest players on the court, but junior guard Jalesa Jones still fights for every rebound, exhibited by her five boards at No. 25/22 Michigan State and season-high six against Western Michigan.

In her career, she has tallied five or more boards 18 times and is currently third on the team at 4.0 rebounds per game.
