Behind a career-high 20-point effort from sophomore Jalesa Jones (Detroit, MI/Pershing), the No. 3 seeded Detroit women's basketball team (17-13) advanced to the Horizon League Championship Semi-Finals with a 75-62 victory over No. 6 Loyola (15-15) Wednesday evening at Calihan Hall.

For her effort, Jones was named U.S. Army Player of the Game.

The Titans came back from an eight-point deficit early in the second half to take a 46-41 lead after scoring 13 unanswered points, which included two baskets from long range. Detroit held on to its lead the remainder of the game and went ahead by 13 points after sophomore Lauren Allen (Rochester, MI/Rochester), who ended with a team second-best 13 points, hit one from long range to put the score at 59-46 with just over five minutes remaining. In the closing minutes, Detroit had a 7-of-8 showing from the free throw line to help secure its win.

Down by three in the first half, sophomore Sierra Spaude (Sturgeon Bay, WI/Sturgeon Bay) accepted a pass from Allen and drained one from long range to tie the game at 21 with just over four minutes remaining. Loyola went up by as much as six, but a trey from freshman Demeisha Fambro (Detroit, MI/Crockett Tech) cut Detroit's deficit in half and the Ramblers led, 33-30, at the break.

UDM sophomore Yar Shayok (Ottawa, ON/ Hillcrest) ended with a game-high nine rebounds, while junior Tayler Langham (Plymouth, MI/Salem) came off the bench to add 12 points for the Titans.

Four players scored in double figures for Loyola, with senior Maggie McCloskey leading the way with 15 after shooting 5-of-12 from beyond the arc.

Detroit shot 52 percent on the night, while Loyola had a 22-of-53 showing. The difference came at the charity stripe as Detroit made 17 of its 24 attempts, while the Ramblers only had eight tries (7-of-8). UDM dominated on the boards, 35-23, and the Titans also tallied three blocks to the Ramblers' zero.

Detroit is now 7-7 all-time when seeded third in the Horizon League Championship and now owns a 6-2 overall mark against Loyola in the conference championship.

The Titans will face No. 2 Butler in the Horizon League Championship Semi-Finals on Friday, March 12 at the Kress Center in Green Bay, WI. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m.
