Garippa Interview On Titan YouTube Channel
DETROIT -- It has been six weeks of intense training since the team arrived back on campus in September and now the Titans' men's lacrosse team is ready for action as UDM faces Denison on Saturday in a road fall preseason game. The contest will be played at Deeds Field and is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m., start.
“It will be fun to just go out there and play against someone in a different uniform,” said head coach Matt Holtz. “It is also a great opportunity for the young kids, especially the freshmen, to get out and play in a collegiate game.”
Detroit has been hard at work since September, getting everybody back on the same page while giving the young players a chance to adapt to its system and college lacrosse. UDM has practiced on grass mostly in the auxiliary field located next to the Titan Tennis Pavilion, but the red, white and blue have also been able to get some training on its home turf field.
“You always want to win games, but in fall ball, you want to see what your freshmen can do,” said sophomore
Nick Garippa. “We just want to see what we improved on. We have a new assistant coach and we are doing a few new things on offense and on the defensive end, we are just looking to tighten things up.”
Saturday's game will be the only exhibition game of the fall for Detroit as it continues to get ready for the 2012 spring campaign.
