DETROIT -- The men's soccer team will face the IPFW Mastodons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hefner Stadium. The regular season finale will be played later this week as Detroit travels to Cleveland State to play the Vikings on Friday, Nov. 4.
About Detroit
The Titans are 5-10-1 overall with a 1-5-1 mark in the Horizon League. Detroit is on a two game skid after beating UIC on Oct. 22. Both the Green Bay Phoenix and the Butler Bulldogs defeated Detroit by the final score of 3-1.
Sam Krenzien scored a hat trick for Green Bay to lead the Phoenix to victory and Austin Oldham scored a goal and added an assist for the Bulldogs.
Moustafa Bazzi highlighted the Green Bay game for Detroit when the junior connected on his second goal of the season off an assist from
Matt Ybarra. The goal against Butler was scored by senior
Nate Robinson. Robinson beat the keeper on a penalty kick to earn his second goal of the year.
Pat Lepera and sophomore
Adam Bedell are tied for the team lead in points this year with 10. Each player has three goals and four assists. Detroit's top goal scorer is
Otieno Victor. Victor has four goals on the year, giving him eight points.
Anthony Shepherd has played well as Detroit's goalkeeper. The sophomore has faced 303 shots from the opposing team this year (15 games). He leads the Horizon League with 71 saves. Shepherd holds a goals against average of 1.74 and posts a save percentage of .724.
Scouting IPFW
The Mastodons are 6-9-2 overall with a 2-2-1 record in the Summit League. They are 1-3-1 in their last five games with their lone win coming 2-0 over Western Illinois.
IPFW beat Milwaukee on the road 4-1 in their first game of the 2011 season. Max Touloute had a career day as he came up with three goals and one assist to help defeat the Panthers. IPFW also faced Butler this season losing by the final score of 3-1. The third and final Horizon League team on the schedule before the Detroit game was Valparaiso. The Crusaders took down the Mastodons by the final score of 2-0.
Touloute is the team leader in points with 29. He has 11 goals and seven assists through 13 games. Colin Helmrich is another offensive threat for the Mastodons. Helmrich has eight goals to go along with four assists giving him 20 points on the year.
Three different goalkeepers have seen action for IPFW this season. The keeper for Tuesday's game should be between Brandon Cloutier and Ryan Bristol. Cloutier is 1-3-1 on the year with two shutouts. He has made 39 saves and holds a goals against average of 1.81. Bristol is the team leader in saves with 49. He holds an overall record of 3-4-1 with a save percentage of .731.

All-Time Series
The Titans lead the all-time series against IPFW 7-1-2. The most recent game played between the two teams ended in a 3-3 tie. The 2007 meeting was the second tie of this young series (2-2). The only time IPFW was able to defeat Detroit was back in 2003 (3-2 OT).
Final Four
Only four players have played in all 16 games for the Titans this season. Those four student-athletes are

Matt Ybarra. The game against IPFW will end Lepera's streak as he will be forced to sit against the Mastodons due to picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Butler.
Bedell Chases All-Time Assist Record
Sophomore
Adam Bedell now has 12 career assists placing him in a seven way tie for 16th all-time. Bedell recorded eight assists as a freshman and currently has four in 2011. Joining Bedell with 12 career assists is teammate
Nate Robinson and former Titans Jason Alexander, Marcel Flemming, Michael Giese, Pete Tangalos, and Dominic Vella.
Shepherd With the Save
Sophomore
Anthony Shepherd leads the Horizon League in saves with 71. Brad Stuver of Cleveland State is in second with 61.
Overtime Blues
The Titans have played in several close games during the 2011 season. Through the first 12 contests, six entered overtime. Detroit's overall record in overtime games is 1-4-1. They defeated Michigan State on opening weekend with a penalty kick goal, and they were able to tie Milwaukee 2-2 back on Oct. 8.
The Buffalo Bulls escaped Titan Field with a 1-0 win in double overtime, and Wright State defeated Detroit in the Horizon League home opener 2-1 in overtime. The overtime jinx was extended at Valparaiso as the Crusaders were able to put away Detroit 3-2 and the most recent overtime loss came at Loyola as the Ramblers upset Detroit 1-0 in double overtime on Oct. 15.
A Look Ahead
This week will put an end to the 2011 season. After facing the Mastodons on Tuesday, the Titans will travel to Cleveland State to face the Vikings in the regular season finale. The game will be played on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 p.m.
