Titans Take 32nd at Great Lakes Regional Championships

RESULTS
 
TOLEDO – The Detroit Titan women's cross country team ended the 2011 season at the NCAA Great Lakes Region Championships on Saturday afternoon.  Detroit recorded 963 points to place 32nd overall.  Freshman Zeinab Baydoun was the top finisher for the Titans.  She placed 176th with a time of 24:04.
 
The Michigan Wolverines won the women's race with a team score of 45.  Michigan had the top two finishers, including four in the top ten.  Michigan State took second place (77) and host school Toledo ended the day in third (84).
 
Danielle Tauro won the race for Michigan with a time of 20:27.  Teammate RebeccaAddison followed in second clocking in at 20:34.
 
Baydoun led the way for Detroit for the second straight week.  Her mile pace on Saturday was 6:28 (Splits – 2k: 7:42, 4k: 15:55).  Teammate Katrina Oberski was the second Titan to cross the finish line.  Oberski placed 187th overall with a time of 24:20.
 
Senior Kirstin Mooney joined a select group of company as she became only the 11th Titan to compete in four career Great Lakes Regional Championships.  She ended the day in 196th place clocking in at 24:44.
 
Olivia Smid finished in 201st for Detroit. Smid recorded a time of 24:57 on the 6k course.  Sarah Martinez, Torrie Eger, and Sara Taylor rounded out the effort for Detroit.  Martinez placed 214th with a time of 25:33.  Eger and Taylor finished in 218th and 227th respectively.  Eger clocked in at 25:48, while Taylor crossed the line at 27:54.
