CLEVELAND – Jordan Hart recorded an assist in the first half and gave the Vikings a 2-0 advantage with a goal in the second leading Cleveland State to victory over Detroit on Friday night. The Titans end the 2011 season with an overall record of 5-12-1, including a 1-6-1 mark in the Horizon League.
Admir Suljevic scored the first goal of the game for Cleveland State. Suljevic headed towards the goal and penetrated the back line after receiving the pass from Hart.
Patrick Soltys went down simultaneously after contact with another player as Suljevic got the shot off. The goal gives Suljevic seven on the year.
Cleveland State put the game out of reach in the 78
th minute when Hart scored his fifth goal of the season off a pass from Aslinn Rodas.
Detroit's best scoring opportunity came in the first half of play. Freshman
Matt Ybarra dribbled the ball up the right side of the field and pushed a pass to
Matt Nedwicki. Nedwicki quickly got the ball to
Cameron Roberts who had his man beat, but the shot flew just high of the crossbar keeping the game tied at 0-0.
Detroit ended the game playing a man down as
Jeremy Stoychoff was removed from the playing field after receiving two yellow cards. Detroit was tagged with seven yellow cards and 18 fouls compared to just two and 11 for the Vikings.
Anthony Shepherd made three saves as the Detroit Titan goalkeeper. He ends the year with 84 total. Brad Stuver was the keeper for CSU. He made two stops.
