Milwaukee -- The Titans (12-6-2, 5-2-1 Horizon League) fell 3-2 to Wright State (10-7-3, 3-3-2 (Horizon League) in the conference semifinals Friday evening in Milwaukee at Laura Moynihan Field at Engelmann Stadium. The loss ends the season for Detroit and the collegiate career of five senior players.

Alyssa Korson, Alexandra Suschak, Alison Suschak, Lauren Roffey and Rebecca Pidgeon wrap up their four-year careers with the red, white and blue with today's game.

“Anytime it's a semifinal game and you have a result like we did today, you're not happy as a coach and a player and at the same time, you can't help but be proud of these girls and what they accomplished this year,” said head coach Mike Lupenec.

“Our seniors who came in four years ago and ended up playing their last game today have helped this team reach the level it stands at now."

Korson played and started in 75 games, Alexandra Suschak played and started in 71 and Alison Suschak played 72 games for the Titans. Roffey started in 74 of 75 games played and Pidgeon added 59 career contests to the senior list. The departure of those individuals, and the experience that comes over four years, will force new leaders to step up and lead the Titans into future seasons.

In today's match-up, Wright State scored the first goal of the game in the seventh minute. Detroit countered shortly after as Rebekah Dornbos converted her fifth penalty kick of the year at the 14 minute mark and became the sixth Titan with five or more goals this year. On the call, Abby McCollum was taken down in the box on an aggressive play and the referee immediately signaled for the penalty kick and Dornbos placed the ball in the upper-left corner of the net.

The Raiders then scored two goals in under 10 minutes going up 2-1 in the 61st minute and adding a third tally in the 70th minute.

Detroit was pushing for the equalizer late and Sarah Dzuris made it 3-2 connecting on one of nine Titan corner kicks in the match. Dornbos took the corner and Alexandra Suschak played the ball towards the goal and Dzuris snuck it behind the goalkeeper at 75:43.

“It won't be the same as this year or any other year but when you look at our roster, we still have a lot of good players coming back next season and we're looking to improve on what we've done the last two years,” said Lupenec.

The Titans could not get the equalizer and in the end fell to the Raiders for the second time this season.

This year's group of Titans finished with the third best record in the 19-year history of the program and set new single season records for team shutouts (11), goals allowed (16), goals-against-average (0.77) and corner kicks (112). They also placed three girls (McCollum, Kaitlyn Quarrell, Alexandra Suschak) on the All-League First Team for the second-time ever and had a recipient win the league's Co-Defensive Player of the Year for the first time as Alexandra Suschak received the honor.

The Horizon League Championship match will take place Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (EST) as No. 1 Milwaukee will host No. 5 seed Wright State.
