ON TAP
The Titans will travel to Indianapolis on Saturday to face the Butler Bulldogs.  This game has big implications on the Horizon League standings as Detroit currently sits in sixth place (14-13, 8-7 HL) while Butler is in range at fifth (17-9, 9-5).  The Bulldogs recorded an 87-64 victory in the first matchup of the season.  The Titan faithful came out that night marking the third largest attendance in Calihan Hall in the past 20 years.

ABOUT BUTLER
The Bulldogs enter Saturday night's showdown fresh off a 71-63 victory over Wright State.  Butler was without their leading scorer and rebounder, Matt Howard, but they had one of their best shooting nights of the season on Thursday at the Hinkle Fieldhouse.  Shelvin Mack stepped up to the challenge by scoring a game-high 20 points while Shawn Vanzant and Andrew Smith each added 15.  Butler's success comes from the one-two punch of Howard and Mack.  Howard leads the team with an average of 17.1 ppg, and he also controls the paint by grabbing nearly eight rebounds a game.  Mack is another scoring threat averaging just under 15 per contest.  He also is the team leader in assists.

LAST MEETING
Butler used a total team effort to defeat Detroit on Jan. 14.  The Bulldogs had five players in double digit scoring.  Leading the way was Matt Howard who connected on five of his six three point attempts to pace Butler with 17 points.  Shelvin Mack also filled the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Chase Simon led Detroit in the game with 19 points off 7-of-11 shooting.  Joining Simon in double figure scoring was Chris Blake who ended the game with 15 points to go along with five steals, and Jason Calliste who scored 11 points while grabbing five boards.

TERRIFIC TITAN TANDEM
Chase Simon and Ray McCallum played very well against Valparaiso in a losing effort.  Simon led all players with a game-high 22 points of 8-of-17 shooting.  McCallum did a little bit of everything for Detroit as he led the team in rebounds (9) and assists (6) while adding 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Detroit will host Youngstown State on Wednesday, Feb. 16 in what will be the last regular season game played in Calihan Hall this season.  Every game down the final stretch of the season is crucial with so many teams in the Horizon League with similar records.

AMONG THE NATIONAL LEADERS
Several Titans have their names appear among the NCAA Division I leaders in the Feb. 3 report.  As the time of the release, junior Eli Holman had 10 double-doubles, which ranked 21st.  He also was 18th in rebounds per game (10.1).  LaMarcus Lowe was 18th in the NCAA with his 2.7 blocks per game clip.  Ray McCallum's 4.8 assists per game is 61st while Nick Minnerath cracked the report with his .833 free-throw percentage (90th).
