Titans To Open Preseason With 2nd Annual Horatio Williams Foundation Hoops & Culture Event

Sophomore Xavier Istomin-Monroe and the Titans will open the season in the Motor City.

DETROIT (8/25/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will start the season in downtown Detroit as the Titans will once again play a preseason game in the 2nd Annual Horatio Williams Foundation Hoops & Culture Event.

The Titans will face Alabama A&M with a tip time of 4:30 p.m. at the Wayne State University Fieldhouse.

The day will also feature Tuskegee battling Wayne State at 2:00 p.m., and Oakland taking on Tennessee State at 7:00 p.m.

When they go on sale, tickets will be set at $20 to watch all three games.

Last year, UDM downed Central State, 75-67, in the event.

It is part of a weekend celebration and will feature a HBCU College Expo to learn about the Historically Black Colleges and Universities, talk to recruiters, and get excited about college!
