INDIANAPOLIS -- The winter storm is having its way with the Midwest, but it looks like there will be no change in the Titans schedule as the Detroit women's basketball team opens a two-game road trip in Indiana when it battles Butler on Thursday. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.

The storm forced the Titans to leave a day early, but Detroit arrived in Indianapolis ready to go and avenge a 72-66 setback to the Bulldogs earlier in the year. UDM is 9-11 overall and 3-6 in conference play as round two of the Horizon League slate gets underway.

Sophomore Yar Shayok, the HL's top rebounder who is now 20th in the nation in rebounding at 10.4 per game, will look to extend her career-best mark of double-doubles to six straight games. Dominique Dixon continues to lead Detroit in scoring at 13.0 points per game, but is averaging 19.8 points in her nine conference games.

Butler is 14-7 on the season and sits in second place in the Horizon League with an 8-1 record.

Fans can catch the game on the Horizon League Network. A live stats feed through CSTV's gametracker will also be available. Both links are located on top of the page.

DETROIT VS. BUTLER
Detroit leads the overall series, 31-26, but Butler has won 12 in a row and 14 of the last 15 meetings. UDM is 11-16 all-time on the Bulldogs' home court, but has dropped the last five in Hinkle Fieldhouse.

The last Detroit win in the series came on Jan. 12, 2006, when Detroit posted a 71-69 victory in Indianapolis.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
Butler has won eight of its last nine, all in conference play, to run its record to 14-7, 8-1 in the HL. The Bulldogs sit in second place in the league one game behind Green Bay, who defeated the Bulldogs last week for their only HL setback.

The Bulldogs have a pair of scorers in the top 10 in the league in Brittany Bowen (15.4) and Chloe Hamilton (14.3).

Butler is also second in the league in scoring (69.1) and field-goal percentage (42.5%).

LAST TIME VS. BUTLER
After being down by as many as 12 twice in the second half, Detroit put together a spirited comeback that just came up short, 72-66, in Calihan Hall.

Sophomore Demeisha Fambro led the way with a team-high 16 points, while sophomore Dominique Dixon had 15 and junior Jalesa Jones netted 12.

The Bulldogs were up by 12, 61-49, with 5:36 left when Detroit went on a 13-2 spurt to cut the deficit to just one, 63-62, with 3:19 left.

After two Butler free throws, Detroit would get back within one, 65-64, at the 1:29 mark, but Butler would never relinquish the lead.

GOOD NUMBERS VS. BUTLER
Sophomore Yar Shayok has two career double-doubles against Butler and is averaging 11.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in four career games against the Bulldogs.

Junior Jalesa Jones has netted double figures in three-straight games and is averaging 9.3 ppg., in six career games, while sophomore Demeisha Fambro had 16 and sophomore Dominique Dixon tallied 15 back on Jan. 8.

MAKE IT A DOUBLE
Sophomore Yar Shayok collected a double-double for the fifth-straight game - and the sixth time in her last seven games - with 12 points and 15 rebounds against UIC.

The five consecutive double-doubles and the fifth-straight game with double-digit rebounds are both a career-best.

Shayok now has eight double-doubles on the year, six in conference play, and 18 in her career. The eight double-doubles are tied for the second most in the Horizon League. A list of her career double-doubles is located on the next page.

She also became the first Titan to post at least four straight double-doubles since Molly Peterman did it during the 1998-99 season.

SHAYOK NOW 20TH IN REBOUNDING
Sophomore Yar Shayok has been a rebounding machine lately with 10 or more rebounds in five-straight games. Shayok is now 20th in the nation in rebounding in the latest NCAA statistics, released on Monday, Jan. 31.

The Horizon League leader in rebounding, Shayok is averaging 10.4 per game with 12 double-digit rebounding games on the year.

Also in the top 100 is junior Lauren Allen, who is 93rd with a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.

As a team, Detroit is 57th in the country averaging just 15.9 turnovers per game.

MURPHY SETS TWO CAREER MARKS
Junior Britney Murphy has reached double figures in back-to-back games, tying her career-best with 13 points against Loyola and eclipsing it her last time out with 15 versus UIC. She also had a career-best five steals against the Ramblers.

ONE LAST HURDLE
Now in her third year at her alma mater as Detroit's head coach, Autumn Rademacher has seen her team record a win over every Horizon League team except Butler.

The Bulldogs have won all six during Rademacher's tenure, including all three last year with one of those in the HL semifinals.

SPREADING IT AROUND
With her team leading 15 points against UIC last game, junior Britney Murphy became the eighth different Titan to lead the team in scoring this season.
