MAAC Weekly Release
EDISON, NJ -- For the fourth-straight week, the Detroit Titans have received accolades from the MAAC as junior
Scott Harris (Saline, MI/Saline) was named the Offensive Player of the Week and freshman
Shayne Adams (St. Catharines, ON/Denis Morris) was selected the Rookie of the Week, announced the conference office on Monday.
Harris had a great week on both sides of the ball posting nine points on five goals and four assists, along with causing three turnovers and picking up a pair of ground balls. He started the week with a career-best five points at Mount St. Mary's, where he tallied a career-high four goals for his first career hat trick. He then came back to hand out a career-high three assists against Robert Morris and played some great defense too in the Titan comeback effort causing two fourth quarter turnovers that turned into Detroit goals. He is currently second in the conference in points (20) and assists (11).
Adams was back on the attack with four goals and an assist in the Titans' two games, which included his fourth hat trick of the season with three markers against RMU. In that game, he helped Detroit get within one (13-12) on a fourth-period goal, and then had a hand in tying it up as his pass led to junior
Ty Maruyama's game-tying score with 7:30 left in the contest. He currently leads the MAAC with 21 goals and 22 points. It is the fourth time this season that Adams was honored by the league as he has been tabbed the Rookie of the Week three times and Offensive Player of the Week once.
Duncan Seale of Siena rounded out the MAAC weekly awards as the Defensive Player of the Week.
The Titans will begin MAAC play on Saturday as Detroit hosts VMI. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m., at Titan Field.
