Detroit (4-8) comes into the weekend at 3-1 in the MAAC as the Titans control their own postseason destiny. With just two games left in the regular season, the Titans need just one victory to secure a spot in the conference tournament. UDM can also win the MAAC regular season and take the No. 1 seed in the MAAC tournament by winning its final two games.

The red, white and blue have won two in a row, including a 13-7 win against Manhattan at home last week in a game that the Titans never trailed. Freshman Alex Maini led the way with a career-high four goals and five points, while seven other Titans found the back of the net. Sophomore A.J. Levell earned his second MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honor as he stopped 14 shots in the contest.

The 13 goals marked the fifth time on the year the Titans have reached double-digit markers, and the fourth time in their last five games. In fact, in Detroit's last five contests, it is averaging 12.0 goals per game, up from 7.7 in its first seven games. UDM also currently leads the MAAC with 23 man-up goals and a 34% scoring rate on its extra-man opportunities.

The defense continues to be a force in the MAAC and the nation as the Titans lead the country for the second week in a row in caused turnovers at 11.83 per game. Sophomore Jordan Houtby is second in that category at 3.33, while sophomore Jamie Hebden is eighth with 2.17 and junior Jason McDonald is 33nd at 1.58. Houtby is also seventh in the nation in ground balls (6.42).

Canisius (2-7, 2-1 MAAC) is coming off a 14-5 setback to Robert Morris on Wednesday. That came on the heels of two-straight wins over conference foes Marist (7-5) and VMI (13-9). Simon Giourmetakis leads the Golden Griffins with 15 goals and 22 points, while Nick LoCoco tops the team in assists (11) and is second on the team in points (20). Canisius did have the league's Preseason Player of the Year in Adam Jones – who was drafted by the Rochester of the MLL in January - but he has missed the last six games due to a knee injury.

This is the second career meeting between the two schools as Canisius downed Detroit, 9-8, last year in Buffalo.
